Since its inception in 1980, the Home Ranch has been distinguished by the incomparable beauty of its setting amidst 580 acres in the breathtaking Elk River Valley, one of the last true Alpine ranching valleys in the American West.  Under the original stewardship of Steve Stranahan and his family, the Home Ranch and its neighboring ranch owners worked together to place over 8,000 acres in a permanent conservation easement, ensuring that most of this agricultural landscape and way of life will remain unchanged.  Now under the new ownership of the McFarlane family, with a mission to further the Stranahan’s legacy of conservation and stewardship, the Home Ranch is currently operating under holistic ranch management principles as practiced by ranch manager Michael Moon.
The Lawncare and Landscaping Hand is responsible for the oversight and execution of weekly lawn and landscaping maintenance demands on the Home Ranch. The L&L Hand will coordinate with the Horticulture and Maintenance Managers on weekly task flow and about any additional projects that may require attention. This position requires working independently to accomplish weekly landscaping and lawn care tasks, and thus demands a person with excellent time management and organizational skills. Further, the L&L Hand must be polite and presentable at all times, acting as the face of the Home Ranch while interacting with customers, clients, and visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. Coordinate and execute weekly lawncare and landscaping at the Home Ranch. Manage lawn irrigation as needed.  Maintain all lawn and landscaping machinery in good working condition.  Work with the Horticulture Manager to complete additional farm projects and tasks as needed.  Work with the Maintenance Manager to complete additional maintenance projects as needed. Ensure safe working environment by following safety guidelines and minimizing risks Good communicator, both from management to staff and from staff to management. Independently identify, research, and communicate horticultural issues that arise. Work in variable weather conditions and supply work clothing, boots, and water bottle. Identify noxious and invasive weeds on the property and the general ranch vicinity, and feel comfortable controlling either with herbicide or mechanical removal. 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of experience in lawncare/landscaping/horticulture Demonstrated experience in completing projects independently and with teams Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.  Ability to lift 50 lbs safely and to kneel/stand for long periods of time Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in operating large farm machinery Previous experience with weed management (identification, mechanical and chemical control).
RELEVANT SKILLS Careful attention to detail Strong communicator, and be able to comfortably communicate with employees and customers about ranch operations. Good organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple tasks efficiently Be able to help plan work schedule and carry out schedule, written and verbal. Familiarity with using standard garden tools (clippers, shovels, wheelbarrows, rakes, etc.) Ability to operate standard landscaping equipment (mower, weedwacker, leafblower etc.) Be able to research horticulture terms and problems easily. Ability  to do basic addition and multiplication Be able to think on the go, be flexible and change plans on the spur of a moment. Be able to use common sense and help others use common sense in daily operations.
